Avoid paying up to 70% more for hospital cover

Loading is an extra 2% on your hospital premium for every year you're over 30 without cover.

Check before your next birthday

Lifetime Health Cover loading adds 2% to your hospital premium for every year you are over 30 without hospital cover, up to a cap of 70%. It is removed after 10 years of continuous cover.

Illustration only. Previous cover, time overseas and some exemptions change the figure. Your consultant can check what applies to you.

Cover changes as life does

Your needs change over time, and your policy may not have kept up. Pick where you are now.

Single or couple

If you are paying for extras you rarely use, or your income has changed, the policy you picked years ago may no longer fit. Hospital cover can also affect whether you pay the Medicare Levy Surcharge.

Worth asking your consultant

  • Whether you use enough extras to justify them
  • How your excess level affects your premium
  • How the Medicare Levy Surcharge applies to your income

Starting a family

Pregnancy and birth cover usually comes with a 12-month waiting period, so the right time to check your policy is before you need it.

Worth asking your consultant

  • Whether pregnancy and birth is included on your tier
  • When a waiting period would end if you changed now
  • How a newborn is added to your policy

Family with kids

Dental, orthodontics and physio tend to matter more with children on the policy, and limits are often shared across the family.

Worth asking your consultant

  • Annual limits on dental and orthodontics
  • The age dependants can stay on your policy
  • Whether extras limits are per person or shared

Nearing retirement

Joint replacements, cataracts and heart care become more relevant over time. Some of these are only included on higher hospital tiers.

Worth asking your consultant

  • Whether those treatments are on your current tier
  • Waiting periods if you move to higher cover
  • How ambulance cover works in your state

General information only. What applies to you depends on your fund and policy.

We read the fine print, so you don't have to

Policy documents run to dozens of pages, for every policy at every fund. Your consultant reads them for you.

  • Every page read, not just the summary
  • Explained in plain English
  • The clauses that affect you, flagged

On the call, a consultant checks

  • What's excluded
  • What's restricted
  • How long you'd wait
  • What you would pay out of pocket

How it works in four steps

  1. Fill in our short form

Pick your current fund and answer a few questions about your age, state and what you pay today.

  2. We refer you to a professional

We pass your enquiry to a health insurance provider or broker who can go through your options.

  3. They talk you through it

A consultant calls to explain what you're covered for, what's excluded and what you'd pay.

  4. You choose cover that fits

Switch knowing what you're paying for, or stay where you are. There's no cost and no obligation.

Frequently asked questions

Is it really free?

Yes. It costs nothing to enquire, and there is no obligation to switch or to buy anything.

Will someone call me?

Yes. After you verify your mobile, a consultant from a health insurance provider or broker calls to go through your options with you. That call is where your options are worked through, so please use a number you can answer.

Why do I have to verify my mobile?

The code we text you confirms the number is yours. It keeps the service for real people and makes sure the call reaches you.

Which funds can the consultant talk about?

Consultants can go through options from over 30 Australian health funds. The logos above show some of them, and you can name yours in the first step even if it has no logo.

Will switching mean losing cover or waiting again?

Waiting periods may apply when you change cover, particularly if you move to a higher level. Your consultant can explain how that applies to you before you decide anything.

Are you a health fund?

No. We are not a health fund, and we do not compare or sell policies ourselves. We pass your enquiry to a health insurance provider or broker. Any cover is provided by the fund you choose, so read that fund's policy information before you decide.

What happens to my details?

We use them to answer your enquiry, as set out in our Privacy Policy and Terms, which are linked at the bottom of every page.
